THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- After trees were knocked down in The Woodlands, students in the local Roots & Shoots chapter stepped in to help restore the land.
Roots & Shoots is a national organization founded by conservationist Jane Goodall to empower young people to improve the world for people, animals, and the environment.
The Woodlands High School seniors Martin Izquierdo and Austin Lee opened the chapter at their school last year.
"Roots and Shoots for us is a way to help out in our community, from doing the little things to big projects like these," Lee said.
One of the bigger projects was planting 300 trees in a greenbelt that had been demolished. In the video above, we join the students leading the project as they work to rebuild green space.
