TOMBALL, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a man and woman were found dead inside a home in the Tomball area early Friday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said a 12-year-old girl called 911 and said she found her mother unresponsive. Deputies responded to the home in the 12500 block of Baldwin Springs just after midnight.
The woman was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to her abdomen and pronounced dead. Deputies said that as they investigated, an older man was found in another room with a gunshot wound to the head.
The child was found unharmed. Officials said deputies talked with the child and learned that there was a history of violence between her mother and the man.
According to HCSO, 12-year-old was released to a family friend after her older sister was contacted and said their family was in Venezuela and couldn't pick her up immediately.
HCSO said there was no one else home besides the child, the man, and the woman, and there was no sign of forced entry.
