HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- When rookie WR Jayden Higgins got the call that he was going to be a Houston Texan, he felt H-town was the best landing spot to kick off his career in the pros.
"You know, of course, the receiving core is very dynamic, so I feel like I know about them. I definitely knew about their celebrations last year. I hit it a couple of times in the games we had at Iowa State," Higgins said.
With more than 11 hundred receiving yards, the former Iowa State Cyclone had a stellar 2024 that caught the attention of NFL teams.
While it's clear he's ready to take his talents to the next level, Higgins says it's an adjustment going from college to the NFL.
"The shifts and motions we have to be accountable for. You know, at the beginning of the play, and you know, and just the amount of plays that we have. Anywhere you go, it's just a new system. It's something that you don't know. You know, learning your responsibilities and just going out there when it's your time," Higgins said.
And to help him become one of the next great receivers in the game, he has one of the best in the league to learn from, Nico Collins.
"Nico is a great guy. He's super giving. He's always going to tell you knowledge that you need to get better."
Even though he hasn't officially made his pro debut, he already has the endorsement of his quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
"I feel like the two rookies, Jaylen and Jayden, they've come in with a great mindset, really mature guys. Love to work, consistently here at the building, or working with me in the off-season. I'm really excited to see those guys' growth and see them take a step forward each and every day," Stroud said.
And when it's time to kick off the 2025 season, fans can be assured that number 81 will be ready to go.
"I'm really excited to go out there, make plays for the Houston Texans," Higgins said.
