HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Seven years after a father was shot and killed while walking to the store with his son, records show the man accused of taking his life has been arrested.

The video above is from a previous report.

The shooting happened on Aug. 15, 2018, at about 1 a.m. in the 15800 block of Clarke Springs. Authorities said Lawson and his son, who was 17 at the time, were on their way to the convenience store at Clarke Springs Drive near Reddy Lane when a small vehicle pulled up. Someone inside the car fired four shots, killing Lawson.

Court documents state that Bryant is the suspect who shot Lawson.

Records show Bryant was arrested Thursday morning. He is currently in the Harris County Jail.
