Woman hit and killed, driver arrested for leaving the scene

HOUSTON -- A woman walking home from Burger King was struck and killed. The driver of that car now faces hit and run charges.

Police say the woman was standing in the median of South Post Oak at Stillbrooke when a man driving a Toyota hit her.

She died at the scene, but the driver and his female passenger didn't stop.

Houston police say the driver went to the female passenger's home. The passenger then told her mom what happened, and the mother took both her daughter and the driver back to the scene.

The male driver is charged with failure to stop and render aid. Police still aren't sure what caused him to hit the woman.
