HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police said they responded to a shooting scene in the Fifth Ward that allegedly stemmed from an online sale meet-up gone wrong.

Officers responded to the shootout at Frenchey's Chicken located on the 4400 block of the East Freeway on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

According to investigators, multiple shots were fired, and of the two people who were shot, one man was critically hurt and rushed to the hospital. They added that one person was detained and another person fled the scene.

Investigators are still piecing the story together, but they say preliminary information suggests the shootout may have started after the owner of a tailgate set up an in-person meeting with a potential online buyer. They added that the tailgate may have been stolen.

HPD said an investigation is underway.
