Man shot after he was assaulted by group of people in east Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police said a man was shot in the back of the head overnight, just hours after he was attacked by a group of people in east Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, the shooting happened at about 10:20 p.m. Monday, outside of a convenience store in the 8700 block of Denton Street.

Officers said the victim had been attacked in the parking lot by a group of men, then about two hours later, a masked man returned with some of the same guys and shot the victim in the back of the head while he wasn't looking.

The victim, who was critically injured, was taken to a hospital, HPD said. His name was not immediately released.

A lieutenant at the scene told ABC13 there were several witnesses, but everyone took off, so they are hoping someone comes forward with information to catch the suspect.
