HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was killed in a crash late Monday night after being hit by two vehicles while attempting to cross the Southwest Freeway, Houston police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers are investigating a deadly crash that happened at 700 Southwest Freeway near Main Street at about 11:50 p.m. on Monday.
HPD Sgt. D. Rose said a man was attempting to walk across the freeway when he was struck by a black Infiniti QX60. The 36-year-old driver of the Infiniti pulled over, called 911, and remained at the scene, officials said.
The pedestrian was then struck again, Rose said, this time by a black Mercedes C250. According to Rose and HPD Officer A. Thomas, the 22-year-old driver of the Mercedes also remained at the scene.
According to Rose, there were no parked cars in the area, so investigators said the pedestrian walked up onto the freeway from the Main Street exit ramp.
Authorities said that Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, officials said.
Both drivers did not show signs of intoxication, and after questioning were released, according to authorities.
HPD said the investigation is still ongoing.
