Klein Collins HS student dies after falling over and hitting head while riding e-bike, officials say

Investigators added the girl was not wearing a helmet at the time, and died from her injuries.

KLEIN, Texas (KTRK) -- A Klein ISD student has died after she fell over while riding an e-bike to school on Friday morning, according to authorities.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office confirmed the teen's death following the incident near Ella Boulevard and Wied Road just south of Spring Cypress Road.

Pct. 4 initially reported the 17-year-old girl was riding a motorized bike to Klein Collins High when she hit a curb and fell over, hitting her head. She was taken to the hospital, where she underwent surgery.

"Please keep our student and their family in your thoughts and prayers as they receive needed medical care," the district said in a statement. In an update, however, deputies said the teen had died from her injuries.

According to the constable's office, the teen was not wearing a helmet. Officials urged drivers to avoid the area as they continue to process the scene.
