Klein Collins HS student accidentally discharges firearm inside restroom, district officials say

SPRING, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a student accidentally discharged a firearm inside an empty restroom at Klein Collins High School on Monday afternoon, according to Klein ISD officials.

In a letter sent to families by Klein Collins HS principal Kristen Brady on Monday, the principal said that no students or staff were injured.

The school's law enforcement officers secured the student's weapon without placing the campus on lockdown or in secure status, according to the letter.

The student was detained after cooperating with administrators and has been expelled from Klein ISD with felony charges accepted by the Harris County district attorney, district officials said.
