
KATY, Texas (KTRK) -- A car hit a child in the Katy area Sunday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The car was traveling westbound near the intersection of Morton Creek Ranch Road and Morton Road when a 6-year-old boy allegedly ran out and was hit, DPS said.
Officials added that the driver, who was passing through a green light at 40 mph in a 45 mph zone, tried to stop.
The child was taken to Texas Medical Center with minor injuries, including scrapes to his head and knees, officials said.
According to DPS, the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
