However, Ordonez's crimes started in Midtown near Travis and McGowen Streets, where he allegedly got into an argument with someone at a party, investigators said.

According to investigators, Ordonez jumped into a Ford Edge, where a mother and a child were inside. They added that they were both able to exit the vehicle before Ordonez sped off.

Ordonez was driving at a high rate of speed when he slammed into a Kia and a Toyota in downtown, killing the occupant of the Kia, according to HPD. Officers later identified the deceased man as 37-year-old David Nken Njock.

Family members told Eyewitness News that Nken was a loving dad, husband, and friend. According to his family, he was working his job as a ride-share driver when he was hit and killed.

Investigators said Ordonez was also injured in the crash and remained in the hospital as of Tuesday. Authorities did not say if Ordonez will face any charges for the other crimes he committed.
