SUGAR LAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Four people are dead after multiple shootings in southwest Houston and one in Sugar Land on Wednesday afternoon, police say.
The first incident occurred in the 12900 block of Dairy Ashford near US-90 in Sugar Land around 1 p.m.
Police say a woman was killed in what they initially believed to be a road rage shooting. Late Wednesday evening, they confirmed the woman had an unspecified relationship with the shooter.
Officers and bystanders rushed to her aid, and she was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
After killing the woman, Houston police say the suspect killed two men in the 13000 block of Fondren in southwest Houston around 1:30 p.m.
One of the men was a mechanic at a shop that was a former Maaco, who police said the suspect had argued with before the shooting. Witnesses say the shooter was a customer and knew the mechanic.
As the suspect was attempting to leave, police say a worker at another auto shop across the street began to record on his phone. His co-workers say he was trying to get the suspect's license plate.
The suspect responded, police say, by shooting the man.
Both men were dead when police arrived. A third man, they say, was taken to the hospital after suffering a panic attack.
Police began searching for the suspect's grey Ford Escape, eventually finding it about 2 miles away on Creekbend Drive.
They say they found the suspect dead inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
