FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Fort Bend Crawford High School's Alvin "A1" Mosley sure knows how to make an entrance.
If you're familiar with him at all, that is really nothing new.
His commitment party was standing-room-only as he announced his choice between the University of Houston, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Texas.
When Mosley came through the Ole Miss banner, that signaled his choice.
"For the next 3 to 4 years, I'll be at the University of Mississippi," Mosley said. "It's the staff I've built the best relationship with in a short amount of time, so it was the best for me. Having Coach Washington on my side, he really cares for me."
Head Coach Pete Golding even called into the celebration, ending the call with "Hotty Totty".
"It doesn't matter who you meet or where you are, you need to trust people," Alvin's mom, Ashley Lewis, said. "At the end of the day, loyalty is everything to me. So told him you got to look at everybody. Their loyalty is all."
Ole Miss is the choice with big goals, playing in the SEC.
"The SEC is for the best players, so I feel like I'm one of the top players, so I feel I'm going to be there", Mosley said. I wouldn't doubt anything Alvin puts his mind to, history's proven that. "Coming in as a freshman, I'm getting every award I can get as a freshman", he said.
He's stood out since scoring the first touchdown in Crawford HS history, an amazing one-handed grab. Since then, he's made play after play, helping the Chargers to a 12-2 record last year in just their second year playing varsity football. He stood out in basketball. He helped Crawford reach the state championship game, which is amazing given how far they went in such a short amount of time.
He finished his junior year as a Guy V Lewis Award finalist, given to the best basketball player in the Houston area.
"Sophomore year, I averaged almost 30 a game," he said. "This year, having more help around me, it has made me a better teammate who helps my team get better."
He's also an outstanding student on the honor roll with a 3.7 GPA; that part's important to his mom.
"At the end of the day, what are you going to do after football?" she said. "I want him to go to the next level, but I also want him to do life after football."
