Dolly Parton Day proposed to honor legend in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Montgomery County is preparing to dedicate a day to honor Dolly Parton after she died following a battle with cancer.

Parton died Tuesday at age 80.

In a Facebook post, Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough wrote, "Dolly gave us '9 to 5,' and now Montgomery County will honor her on 9/25."

Keough said Montgomery County will formally recognize Sept. 25 to honor the star's life, legacy, and lasting impact.

The judge said he plans to present the resolution to the county's commissioners court in the coming weeks.
