HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- No arrests have been made in a northwest Harris County shootout, the department says, which involved several teenagers.
While no one is behind bars, the sheriff's office believes most, if not all, of the teens are current or former Cy-Fair ISD students.
The shooting happened last night along Yuapon Ranch Road on Tuesday night. A spokesperson with the Harris County Sheriff's office hasn't said how many people were involved, but they do believe at least three people fired a gun.
Surveillance video provided by a subdivision resident captures the sound of bullets ringing through the neighborhood.
Right now, the Harris County Sheriff's Office says it wants to know who fired shots.
HSCO says a 17-year-old was arguing with someone on the phone at home and then went outside. That's when they say his grandmother and mother tried to get him to go back in.
Moments later, deputies say a group of teenagers showed up at the house, and an argument broke out.
That argument turned into a shootout between the 17-year-old and the group.
In the chaos, the sheriff's office said the teen, his mother, and grandmother were all shot and sent to the hospital.
A neighbor who lives down the street and didn't want to be seen on camera says he was home last night when he heard the gunshots.
"I have kids who are in middle school, so it doesn't make me feel good at all. I'm worried about that kind of stuff happening because it can happen in school, too," he said.
Right now, the sheriff's office is working with the district to help identify anyone involved. The district did not provide ABC13 with additional details.
The department hasn't said if they believe the 17-year-old was targeted.
"That's heartbreaking. I mean, for anyone to succumb to gun violence is just heartbreaking. It's absolutely ridiculous," James Frank said.
