HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- As fans from around the world fill Houston's streets during the FIFA World Cup, one piece of artwork has become nearly impossible to miss.
The artwork, titled Dare to Dream, was created by Houston artist Stephanie Leal and selected as the city's official FIFA World Cup host city poster.
"I grew up watching the World Cup and admiring the players, and I never thought I'd be part of that experience," Leal shared.
The colorful design of an astronaut with a soccer ball and cowboy hat appears on T-shirts, keychains, posters, and souvenirs across the city. It welcomes visitors in shops and public spaces and serves as a symbol of Houston's moment on the world stage.
"I am very fortunate that I get to combine both of my passions, art and futbol," Leal said. "For me to do this on such a big stage is pretty incredible, and it took a lot of hard work just to get where I am now, and hopefully I get to keep doing it."
In the video above, Leal talks about how she created the design and points out some details you might not notice right away.
