Cyclosporiasis cases at 54 in Harris County; 10 additional cases in Houston, health officials say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Harris County and Houston health officials are sharing the latest number of Cyclosporiasis cases in the area.

In an update on Tuesday, the Houston Health Department confirmed 10 additional cases in the city, bringing the total to 34. City officials added that the number of cases so far in 2026 is similar to what was reported at this point last year.

Meanwhile, Harris County Public Health officials said that as of last week, 54 cases had been reported in the county.

This comes after more than a dozen cases were reported in Galveston County.

Health officials say symptoms of Cyclosporiasis may include:

• Frequent watery diarrhea

• Stomach cramps

• Nausea

• Fatigue

• Loss of appetite

• Weight loss

• Low-grade fever
