CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- The Conroe Police Department says a motorcycle officer who was responding to a crash on North Loop 336 was involved in a crash of his own.

On Thursday, at about 12:30 p.m., Conroe PD said its traffic and motor units responded to a deadly crash in the 500 block of N. I-45.

Police said the officer had his lights and sirens on when he was hit by a pick-up truck on the N. Loop 336 and the North Freeway service road intersection.

Investigators said the motorcycle was then hit by a third vehicle, and the impact threw the officer off his bike.

The officer was able to call for help and is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the department added.

SkyEye 13 flew over the scene when the officer's motorcycle was being towed away.

Officials stated that the drivers of the other vehicles involved in the crash remained at the scene and assisted the officer.

Conroe police said the crash remains under investigation.
