MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man wanted for online solicitation of a minor is accused of leading deputies on a multi-county chase and firing a weapon at them before his arrest Friday, according to Montgomery County authorities.
Deputies say 29-year-old Raul Alcantaria of Conroe fled from law enforcement near the movie theater in the Valley Ranch shopping district in New Caney. The chase began in Montgomery County Precinct 4, entered Precinct 3, circled back through Precinct 4, continued northbound on U.S. Highway 59 through Liberty County, and ended in San Jacinto County.
Constable Rowdy Hayden said the pursuit ended at the dead end on Redbud Lane in Shepherd, where Alcantaria exited his vehicle and allegedly fired at deputies. A deputy from another agency reportedly returned fire, but no one was injured.
Then, deputies say, Alcantaria ran into the woods and hid until the Liberty County Sheriff's Office drone team spotted him. Drone footage released by Montgomery Co. Pct. 4 shows the moment Alcantaria surrendered.
Alcantaria is charged with online solicitation of a minor, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest, and failure to appear on a previous assault family violence charge.
