City of Houston opens up more than 100 cooling centers as temperatures rise Wednesday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- With temperatures ramping up, the City of Houston is opening up more than 100 cooling centers, according to a statement from the city.

On Wednesday, the city shared that Mayor John Whitmire, in coordination with the Office of Emergency Management, announced the activation of more than 100 cooling centers.

This comes as the National Weather Service issued an extreme heat warning for Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
