Car group showcases custom rides to inspire the next generation
These cars stand out with their colorful and creative designs, but these custom rides are driving something bigger in the Houston community.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Super cars, superheroes, and super fun.

Carmic.con is a group that supports car clubs, local charities, and children's hospitals - anything that benefits the local community.

The group's founder, Koriey Dixon, said, "We teach the community about our cars and our lifestyles."

Lifestyles that unify automotive passion with artistic expression. Their highlight is custom cars wrapped in artwork inspired by video games, comic books, and pop culture. Carmic.com was on hand at Houston's back-to-school bash and school supplies giveaway. The young students filled their backpacks and loved the flashy rides.

Dixon told us, "Having cars like these brings a lot of attention and a lot of communication. People want to know why you do it?"

The students are checking out The Grinch, God of War, and Dragon Ball Z, all of which hold deep meaning for their drivers.

Driver Marcus Young's passion is his custom-wrapped God of War, "He's a tough guy, but he's a father. Everything he is doing and sacrificing is to teach his son."

Kevin Simon, owner of Image Grafix, got into car wraps because of his dad. "My dad always had a clean ride, clean paint. I started playing video games and customizing cars on the game. I thought, I can do this in real life."

The car wraps last between two and five years, and they are attention-getters.

Simon adds, "One of the reasons I'm at the school supply giveaway is because a lot of kids don't know you can do this, and it can inspire them. They love taking pictures, and that's why we are here. We love to show them our craft and inspire them to do something like it in the future."
