GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A bagel store owner in Galveston is turning a burglary into a slogan and using the words to help cover the costs of damages.

Since the opening of the Galveston Bagel Company five years ago, a Galveston police spokesperson said they've investigated three burglaries. The latest burglary happened on Monday morning.

Shelby Scheets said it is a crime that she as the owner has become too familiar with.

"At this point now it's just kind of comical," Scheets said. "There's not much you can do about it. I think early on it was earth shattering."

Scheets said the person stole $100, but she said the damages were much worse. Between having to get a new door, registers, and other systems, she said it costs her more than $4,000 in damages.

She may get a cost covered in an unexpected way. After sharing the latest break-in on social media, a costumer had a new slogan idea.

"It says, 'Bagels worth breaking in for," Scheets said.

A motto Scheets loved. She developed a t-shirt with the words, and an image that looks similar to what the cameras captured that she says will be available to buy online through Friday.

"We didn't show their face," Scheets said. "We actually put a clown emoji over it. Just to bring in a little bit more humor. Make light of it."

Officers say so far, they haven't made an arrest in Monday's break-in.

"We're grateful for this community," Scheets said. "We wouldn't have made it as far as we have without Galveston behind us."

It is support that's taken the owner from her house to storefront, and now, a new slogan to help cover costs from whoever did broke into her store.
