HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman who was supposed to be caring for children is now accused of sexually assaulting them, according to court documents.
Records say 34-year-old Hailey Hedspeth was charged with two second-degree felonies of sexual assault of a child, 14 to 17 years old, and two first-degree felonies of sexual abuse of a child, continuous under the age of 14.
Documents allege the abuse took place for years between 2017 and 2023, when the boys were 11 and 13 years old.
ABC13 also learned Hedspeth worked for Katy ISD as a paraprofessional, but the district confirmed she resigned from her role back in 2023.
Hedspeth faced a judge for the first time this week.
Documents reveal that the alleged assault happened multiple times, ranging from touching the teenager's private parts to intercourse. The investigation began in 2023, but didn't lead to charges back then.
Records show one of the victims said in 2023, when his mother found out about the alleged abuse, she wanted to press charges, but the father did not want to.
Investigators said Hedspeth, at the time, denied all sexual allegations and stated that the motivation for the allegations was that she was sleeping with the victim's father. In addition to that allegation, investigators said Hedspeth may have transmitted an STD to one of the boys.
According to the documents, the teenagers said the abuse caused them emotional trauma, and one even revealed in the records that it caused him to drop out of high school.
Hedspeth's next court appearance is set for March 11.
