2 toddlers confirmed dead at hospital after drowning in Katy-area home pool, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Two toddlers are dead after reports of a potential drowning in the Katy area on Wednesday, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said that both toddlers were pronounced dead at the hospital despite lifesaving efforts.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said it all started when a woman called 911 and was screaming that two kids had drowned at a pool in the 21000 block of Creek Edge Court.

Authorities said the young girls live at the home with their mom and grandparents.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found EMS performing life-saving measures. The young girls, aged 2 and 3 years old, were taken via LifeFlight to the hospital.

According to preliminary information, the grandmother had returned from grocery shopping and saw the girls in the pool. She started screaming and tried pulling them out when her daughter and husband assisted, as well as neighbors.

An investigation is being conducted by the homicide and crime scene investigation departments.
