HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible targeted shooting that left one person injured and a 17-year-old boy dead in east Harris County, deputies said
HCSO said the shooting happened late Saturday at a large gathering of nearly 200 people on Waldine near Penn City Road. Officials stated that the party was being held in an open area between trailers, featuring a live band, drinks, and an admission charge.
HCSO said once deputies arrived, people began running from the area, and the victim was found shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the sheriff, there was a second victim, an 18-year-old who was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
Preliminary information said the 17-year-old was shot in the middle of a fight when a group of suspects approached him, HCSO said.
According to officials, the group of suspects is described as young men in their late teens or early 20s.
The sheriff's office said they are looking into the connection between the victims and the suspects, and believe this was a targeted incident.
Officials are urging anyone with information about the party to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-22-TIPS (8477).
