Teen dead after being shot, crashing vehicle into garage, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 19-year-old is dead after being shot while he crashed his vehicle into a parked car and a garage in northwest Harris County on Friday evening, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a vehicle that crashed into a residence at around 6:29 p.m. in the 3400 block of Pinechester Drive, near Veterans Memorial and W. Greens Road, HCSO said.

New video obtained by ABC13 shows the victim's black car in the driveway.

"The car came and sandwiched next to my truck, and we heard the noise and my husband went outside to check when the noise was," the homeowner said.

That's when the homeowner said they discovered someone hit their parked car and then also rammed into their driveway.

Based on preliminary information, deputies said that the teen appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, and his car appeared to have multiple bullet strikes. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said they are still working to determine what led up to the shooting.

"At this time, we don't have any info other than he was wounded. We don't know where that incident occurred. We don't believe it actually occurred where he crashed at, we're trying to determine that now. We have detectives that are canvassing the area, speaking with neighbors to see if they heard or seen anything," said Sgt. A. Hinojosa, with HCSO.

Neighbors and the homeowner told ABC13 that they heard the gunfire.

"We heard more like 'tat-tat' like about three rounds and then like five minutes, he was already in my front yard and in the garage," said the homeowner.

"I heard the gunshots, but I'm in the garage. My husband, he heard where the vehicle had came down the street and wrecked into our neighbor's car and house," said Aretha Johnson, a neighbor in the area.

While the investigation is still ongoing, they said they are heartbroken and shocked that this type of crime happened so close to their homes.

"We couldn't even handle it because we've never gone through any issues or no problems like I said, this is an all-grandparent street, and we've never had any issues, never, never. My kids are grown, and to the parents of the child, it broke my heart," the homeowner said.

"For anyone, but especially for someone to be so young. Typically, we hear gunshots but not ever this close," Johnson said.

At this time, deputies said that there is no information on any suspects.
