HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 19-year-old man is facing murder charges after a shooting that killed an 18-year-old and injured a 20-year-old outside a north Harris County restaurant, according to the sheriff's office.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened along the North Freeway near Airtex at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to deputies, two groups of people got into an argument in the parking lot before the suspect went to his car, grabbed a gun, and opened fire.

An 18-year-old died, but a 20-year-old who was injured is expected to live, deputies said. Both victims were relatives, HCSO said.

HCSO later identified Jonathan Mata as the teen who died in the shooting.

According to the sheriff's office, after the shooter fled the scene in a black Chevy Camaro, a witness who was with Mata followed him while on the phone with 911.

Deputies said the Houston Police Department found the shooter at a location in Houston's south side and took him into custody.

He was identified as 19-year-old Juan Lopez and was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, HCSO said, adding that he has been booked in the Harris County Jail.
