You can help feral cats in your neighborhood survive the cold

By now, you have all heard that some of the coldest air of the season is headed our way. Freezing temperatures are expected for almost everyone tonight.

We all know to bring our pets inside and provide protection for our other animals that live outside.

You can also help the stray and feral cats that live in many of our neighborhoods.

Friends for Life, the only no-kill shelter in Houston, builds and distributes what they call "warm" shelters. They are designed to help feral cats safe and warm during the cold winter months. They are modified rubber tubs lined with foam and hay for insulation.

Since 2009, Friends for Life has built and distributed more than 500 warm houses for feral cats through their Project Warm program.

You can purchase one from Friends for Life for just $20.
