Obi has been learning to swim in the zoo's nursery yard, but this was his first time in the deeper waters of the exhibit. His mom Petre kept a close eye on him as he bobbed his head in and out of the water.
Obi's name means "heart" in Igbo, a local Nigerian language. He weighed 11 pounds when he was born, but is already up to 28 pounds. Pygmy hippos can grow to eventually be 350-600 pounds.
