One person killed in shooting at southwest Houston office building

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person is dead after a shooting at an office building near NRG Park this morning.

It happened on the fifth floor or a building in the 2600 block of South Loop West. Houston Police say a man with mental issues was there to talk to a counselor, but during the initial interview, he began to have what police describe as some kind of episode.

He left, but came back 30 minutes later. Two women in that office made the decision to lock the door and here's what police say happened next.

"He turned his attention to the office that was directly to the left of the business," said Detective Will Huff with the Houston Police Department. Some of them came out and apparently he turned his attention to the office to the left of the business he was initially at. And he ended up in that office and he was shot one time by the owner."

That second office is called Pettway Accounting, a tax consulting firm. The people involved have been moved to Houston police headquarters for questioning.
