HUMBLE, TX -- Oak Ridge coach Dereck Rush needed one last stop.
Luckily for him, the War Eagles got it.
Oak Ridge forced a turnover on downs as Kingwood was driving to try to take the lead on its final drive to preserve a 30-26 win over the Mustangs at Turner Stadium to begin District 16-6A play.
"This was a big win for us," Rush said. "We started this year with a goal to win a district championship. We needed this win to keep that dream alive."
Kingwood marched down to the Oak Ridge 17, needing a touchdown and extra point to take the lead with less than a minute to play.
