CONROE, TX (KTRK) -- State troopers say a suspected drunk driver lost control of his brand new Chevy Camaro and slammed into the side of a moving train.

Rescue teams had to cut out the driver after the impact caused his car to flip onto its side.

State troppers say the man was driving southbound on FM 1485 near the Lake Wildwood subdivision when he failed to make a curve. He hit the train about 100 feet from the crossing.

911 operators were alerted to the accident thanks to the vehicle OnStar system. The driver, identified as Daryl McCowan of Conroe, suffered only a cut to his hand.

Troopers say McDowan then failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Montgomery County Jail on DWI charges.

The train never stopped. The conductor said he didn't know anything had struck the train.
