HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is dead and a suspect in custody following what police believe was a robbery and shooting in a north Harris County bar's parking lot.

It happened around 3pm outside a Chula's sports bar along I-45 and Richey Road. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, a 38-year-old man had been eating inside with three Hispanic males. All four left the business together. Police say that's when patrons heard gunfire.

When they went outside to investigate, they found the victim in the parking lot deceased.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office tells us it's still early, but it appears as if this was a robbery gone bad.

After the shooting, the suspect reportedly got into the victim's car and took off. While in the victim's car, investigators say the suspect was involved in two wrecks, then tried to flee on foot.

Houston police were able to catch him and take him into custody.

Police would not specify details as to the whereabouts of the other three men who had been dining with the victim.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office, as well as TABC, is investigating.
