Residents of Dallas may be a little sleepy Saturday morning after the city says an apparent malfunction in its emergency system caused its sirens to go off late Friday night.

The sirens started around midnight and continued for 3 hours.

A city spokesperson said the sirens went off due to a system malfunction.

The incident caused a surge in 911 calls that reportedly caused a wait time up to 2 minutes.
