Crooks smash into convenience store, leave empty handed

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Burglars tried to smash their way into a northeast Houston convenience store but did not make it inside.

This happened around 3:15am Wednesday at Gulf Station and convenience store in the 8400 block of Tidwell.

Police say an unknown number of suspects in a red SUV smashed in the doors of the building, but it does not appear the crooks were able to get inside of the store.

The owner is checking to make sure nothing was stolen. Police are looking over surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspects.
