HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A young child was transported to a hospital shortly after a fire broke out Friday afternoon at an apartment complex in northwest Harris County.

The two-alarm blaze erupted around 2:30pm at an apartment building in the 500 block of Cypress Station at FM 1960. At least one person -- a three-year-old child -- was injured, and 16 units were destroyed or damaged.

Eyewitness News saw a little girl getting medical attention at the scene, but it's unclear whether it's the same child who was transported to a hospital.

"It was the apartment over there that was burning, not directly ours, so there was very little warning," one resident told us. "In between the time one of our neighbors came and knocked on the door and the time we had all the stuff out, maybe two or three minutes, and at that point, all of this was on fire."

The Ponderosa Fire Department is still on the scene.

Eyewitness News reporter Miya Shay is at the scene and will have more for our 4pm and later broadcasts.
