Houston mom accused of murdering her 3-week-old baby

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston woman is facing murder charges, accused in the death of her own 3-week-old baby, who died more than a year ago.

Nicole Ann Saenz, 25, is charged with murder in the death of Jillianna Nicole Saenz. According to court documents, investigators were sent to the family's home in the 5600 block of Aldine Bender on November 18, 2013, after the child was transported to the Northeast Memorial Hermann Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

Nicole Saenz reportedly told investigators that Jillianna had spit up and stopped breathing, so she and her boyfriend called 911 for an ambulance.

An autopsy of the child revealed that Jillianna had multiple rib fractures and various other injuries. Investigators say neither Nicole nor her boyfriend had an explanation as to how the injuries occurred.

After an investigation, murder charges were accepted on Nicole Saenz, who is currently in the Harris County Jail with a $50,000 bond.
