Danny Chung, Neckwav, Andrew Choi, Kevin Woo and SamUIL Lee arrived in coordinated black satin suits, each with subtle personal flourishes that reflected their individual styles.

"It's been a tremendous year for us," one of them told Joelle Garguilo on the red carpet. "I can't believe we're here. We're living the dream."

Diane Warren nominated for her 17th Oscar

Legendary songwriter Diane Warren is nominated for her 17th Oscar this year for her song in the documentary about her life, 'Relentless.'

Despite all of those nominations, she has never won.

"I never give up hope. I'm relentless," Warren said on the red carpet. "I always feel like the underdog or undercat, because I'm a cat person."

ABC7 entertainment reporter George Pennacchio and Warren share a friendly tradition on the red carpet, which continued tonight. Pennacchio presented her with a special necklace that says 17.

How this year's Oscars ceremony could make history

This year's Oscars will be historic for several reasons, including a new category, which is something that hasn't happened in more than 20 years.

A place in the record books is up for grabs this year as Hollywood gathers to celebrate the best in film, but every once in a while a ceremony comes along that doesn't just celebrate history, it makes it.

Joelle Garguilo has more on the films and actors that could make history at the 98th Academy Awards.

But even before the awards are handed out, some history has already been made.

"'Sinners,' all time nomination record, 16. Beat out 'Titanic,' 'All About Eve,' 'La La Land,' they got 14 nominations," said Clayton Davis, Chief Awards Editor for Variety. "This is monumental for 'Sinners.' It's also the most individual Black nominees that have come from one single movie in history."

This year's ceremony also marks the first time the Academy has introduced a new category since 2001: Best Achievement in Casting to recognize the people who find your favorite stars.

So who else could deliver something that has never happened before?

Take a look at the full story here.

Just how long is the red carpet?

In case you were wondering, the red carpet is 900 feet long - that's about three football fields!

Omar Raja from ESPN took the viewing audience on a tour of the carpet, from the grand staircase to the Dolby Theater, past the giant Oscar statues, and into the rows of cameras and crowds.

It's so long, Omar had to run to the first interview position where George Pennacchio and Joelle Garguilo are waiting to talk to the stars as they arrive.
