A mother who was murdered in La Marque was pregnant, the Galveston County medical examiner confirms

LA MARQUE, TX (KTRK) -- The Galveston County medical examiner confirms Nita Moseley was pregnant when she was killed. The single mother's body was found in her La Marque rental home last weekend. Her 14-year-old son is charged with her murder.

Now, a woman who helped raise the murder suspect is speaking out. Yolanda Maldonado's son dated Moseley 14 years ago. So, she began raising the little boy after he was born. They spent several years together before a paternity test showed Maldonado's son wasn't the father. Still, she considered the little boy her grandson.

Though they drifted apart the past decade, Moseley, Maldonado and the 14-year-old boy found each other again recently through Facebook. They met up a few months ago in Dickson, and Maldonado says mother and son seemed happy.

She never expected Moseley to be dead, and her grandson to be charged with murder.

"He was loving and smart, anything I tell him to do, he would do it," said Maldonado. "If I tell him not to do something, he wouldn't do it. I never did see any anger problems. Never never. Nita loved him so much. That was her world, her heart."

The Galveston County medical examiner would not release the cause of death until La Marque police detectives speak with Moseley's family. We do know now the charges could be upgraded to capital murder. Whether the district attorney goes that route, is not yet known.
