Newly elected Harris County misdemeanor judge has died
Newly elected Judge Cassandra Hollemon died Monday, just weeks after taking over the bench in Harris County.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Newly elected Judge Cassandra Hollemon died Monday, just weeks after taking over the bench in Harris County. Hollemon was 57.

Judge Darrell Jordan confirmed her death, citing "health issues," but did not elaborate.

Hollemon won the Harris County Criminal Court at Law Texas No. 12 bench in November, defeating Republican candidate John Spjut.

Hollemon also served on the Community Supervision and Pretrial Services Committee.
