A duck and a girl in Maine share a special friendship

FREEPORT, ME -- A 5-year-old girl in Maine is sharing a special friendship with a duck.

Little Kylie Brown is great pals with Snowflake the duck.

Snowflake can't always come inside to play, but when he does, he follows Kylie around, local station WGME reports.

Kylie's mom, Ashley Brown, says they brought the duck home on a whim after having dogs and gerbils. She says she didn't expect Snowflake to love Kylie.

Brown said, "We brought him home, this little yellow furball is squawking in a box, and Kylie walked over to the box and leaned in, and he was quiet. Everywhere she went he was quiet. And if she went missing, he would squawk and panic."

Over the past six months, Kylie and Snowflake have done everything together. Snowflake even rounded out their "Frozen" costumes at Halloween, dressed as Olaf, the snowman.

Ashley Brown said, "They are best friends, but in his eyes, she's mama. She's mama duck."

Ashley Brown says Kylie cares for Snowflake. "I've seen (Kylie) grow up," she said. "She's become very responsible. She takes very good care of him."
