Friendswood girl, 8, makes 911 call that saves dad

FRIENDSWOOD, TX (KTRK) -- An 8-year-old Friendswood girl was honored for her heroic 911 call that saved her dad's life.

Victoria Gabrowski made that life-saving call and followed all the operators instructions after her dad severely cut his arm while doing dishes.

He says a shard of glass sliced his arm down to the bone. On Monday, Victoria was honored by the city of Friendswood.

Victoria was named a "9-1-1 kid hero" for staying calm under pressure. She also says she's taking over the dish duties until her father recovers.
