Inflatable brain exhibit educates students on strokes

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- You might say Houston-based business owner Lauren Hill has inflated ideas on how to educate the community about the human body.

"I would tell people, 'oh you need to know your numbers, you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol,' and then they would go right to McDonald's after I'd say that," Hill said. "And I thought there has to be a better way."

She launched a company called Medical Inflatable Exhibits to give people of all ages an inside look at how the body works using interactive, walk-through exhibits.

"I worked with some physicians at St. Luke's and Methodist and we designed the world's first walk-through, portable heart exhibit," Hill said. "And from there came the brain."

The Mega Brain visited students at Condit Elementary in Bellaire Tuesday as a part of a stroke education program.

Terri Ackerson, a stroke survivor, also spoke to the children.
