HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A group of armed robbers tried to steal from a fast food restaurant but left empty handed.

Police say around 1:00am this morning, employees were closing up the Burger King location at West Dyna and the North Freeway when three armed men wearing masks ran inside.

The robbers wanted money from the registers, but the cash had already been locked up in the safe for the night.

The gunmen then tried to rob the two women who worked there, but the women didn't have any money in their purses.

The gunmen then ran out of the store empty handed and have not been caught.

There were no customers inside the store at the time, and no one got hurt.
