MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- The six-week-old infant who triggered an Amber Alert out of Montgomery County has been found safe and is now in CPS custody, officials said.
An Amber Alert was issued for William Bleimeyer Monday afternoon after authorities could not find him or his biological mother, Tammi Bleimeyer.
"They've had some difficulty locating the child, believed the child to be in immediate danger," said Lt. Buck Clendenon with the Montgomery County Pct. 4 Office.
But shortly after, someone recognized them at a clinic in Porter, Tammi brought the child for a six-week checkup, and called authorities. The baby appeared to be in good health and had no visible signs of trauma or abuse, Child Protective Services Spokeswoman Estella Olguin said.
Bleimeyer was charged in March with felony child endangerment after she and her husband, Bradley Bleimeyer, allegedly forced his 5-year-old son to wear a diaper and live in a closet under the stairs with no food. Deputies only found out after the victim's 16-year-old step brother alerted them. As a result, CPS pulled the couple's six kids out of the home.
After Tammi Bleimeyer gave birth to her newborn son, a judge last week issued a writ ordering Bleimeyer to surrender the baby to CPS. However, authorities could not track her down so they issued the Amber Alert. Right now, Bleimeyer faces no new criminal charges in connection to Monday's alert.
Olguin says the baby will be put in a foster home.
Tammi Bleimeyer is scheduled to appear before a judge Tuesday in connection to the custody of her other children. The children's grandparents are trying to win custody of them.
Anyone with information regarding the child or the mother is asked to immediately contact CPS Investigator Dunn at 936-697-3472 or Montgomery County Precinct 4 Lt. Clendennen at 281-577-8985.
