GOOD NEWS: Hwy 290 commute is about to get better

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- If you drive to school or work on SH-290, we've got some good news: your commute could be getting better with the addition of carpool lanes.

METRO has just approved spending $1.6 million to paint stripes and install signs that would make the left lane of the eastbound or westbound freeway an HOV lane during peak traffic times in both directions.

METRO told Eyewitness News there is no start date for the change yet.
