Harvey's punch knocks out power to 57,000 customers
Centerpoint Energy is working to restore power after high winds and pelting rain knocked out power for thousands of customers in the Houston area.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Centerpoint says that 96 percent of its customers have the lights back on, as of Tuesday afternoon.

Flooded streets are making it difficult for Centerpoint crews to restore power some areas, which may cause delays in getting the lights back on for all.

Check the CenterPoint outage tracker for the latest information. Customers can also sign up for alerts from the company with estimates on power being restored.

There is no need to call Centerpoint about power outages because their smart meters will alert them to areas in need of assistance.

Centerpoint Energy said they have thousands of workers ready to tackle outages caused by Hurricane Harvey, but cautioned they may need help from outside Houston to get the lights back on.
