TAMPA, FL -- A high school football team in Tampa, FL, is stepping out with a unique, designer look.
Over the past few months, Coach Robert Weiner worked with Nike designers to make a custom training shoe for Plant City High School. The shoes are coated in Las Vegas gold with the school mascot's panther paws stamped around the school's name.
Originally made for the football team, Wiener says once word of the shoes hit social media, requests from both present and past alumni poured in.
Nike initially manufactured 500 pairs on their website. Each pair of kicks cost $100. They sold out on the site in just 20 minutes.
It seems what began as an homage to the dominant football team coming off nine straight district titles, now pays homage to all those attended the school.
