No injuries reported after large fire at Alvin plastic recycling facility, city officials say

ALVIN, Texas (KTRK) -- Multiple fire agencies battled a large fire at a plastic recycling facility in Alvin on Monday afternoon, according to the Alvin city officials.

According to the City of Alvin, the city's fire crews, along with Pearland, Friendswood, Brazoria County (CR 143), and Santa Fe fire departments, responded to the fire in the 900 block of County Road.

According to the Alvin Fire Department, fire crews found hundreds of large plastic drums burning, where the fire quickly spread across the property.

City officials said that there were no injuries reported and no shelter-in-place order for the area at this time.

An investigation is still ongoing with County Road 281 closed, but it's expected to reopen later Monday evening, Alvin Volunteer fire officials said.
